Position: Business Development Manager - Travel and Tourism (IATA Certified)

Role Overview:

The Business Development Manager for a Travel and Tourism Company is responsible for driving growth through strategic partnerships, maximizing sales of air tickets and enhancing the customer experience. With a focus on air ticket sales and visa arrangements this role requires in-depth knowledge of the travel industry, IATA certifications and preferably an Airline Sales Maximization or Equivalent IATA Sales and Marketing Diploma to navigate the nuances of airline partnerships, fare structures and market opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Growth & Revenue Enhancement:

o Develop and execute business development strategies to increase ticket and visa sales, expand client base and boost revenue.

o Identify, establish, and strengthen partnerships with airlines, corporate clients, travel agencies, tour operators and other travel-related businesses.

o Optimize pricing, inventory management and sales channels to enhance ticket sales and achieve revenue targets.

2. Industry Knowledge & Relationship Management:

o Leverage IATA Certifications and Airline Sales Maximization expertise to understand airline dynamics, fare structures, and seasonal demand trends.

o Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including airlines, tourism boards, and travel partners.

o Work closely with cross-functional teams to align sales efforts with company objectives and market needs.

3. Market Analysis & Strategic Insights:

o Conduct market research to identify trends, customer preferences and competitive landscape within the travel and tourism sector.

o Develop data-driven strategies and campaigns to target specific customer segments, optimize pricing and drive demand.

o Provide insights and recommendations on product offerings, loyalty programs and marketing initiatives.

4. Sales Performance & Optimization:

o Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline, forecast sales targets, and manage budgets to meet revenue goals.

o Track and analyze sales performance metrics, adjusting strategies to ensure continuous improvement and growth.

o Use CRM and sales management tools to monitor account activities, manage customer relationships, and generate performance reports.

5. Team Leadership & Development:

o Lead a team of sales and customer service professionals, fostering a high-performance culture with a focus on client satisfaction and revenue growth.

o Conduct regular training sessions on IATA standards, sales techniques and product knowledge to enhance team skills.

o Provide guidance and support to team members, setting clear goals and evaluating performance.

Qualifications:

· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Tourism, Marketing or any other stream and an MBA is a plus.

· Certifications: IATA Certification required; Airline Sales Maximization Diploma preferred.

· Experience: 5+ years of experience in business development, sales or account management in the travel and tourism industry.

· Skills:

o Strong knowledge of airline ticket sales, pricing structures, and inventory management.

o Excellent relationship-building, communication, and negotiation skills.

o Proficiency with CRM systems and sales analytics tools.

o Ability to analyze market data and implement data-driven strategies.

Preferred Attributes:

· A track record of successful sales growth within the travel or airline sector.

· Familiarity with GDS (Global Distribution Systems) and other travel booking platforms.

· Established network within the travel and tourism industry.
