Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Cost estimation: Leading the estimating team and overseeing all cost estimation activities for projects. This includes developing precise cost information for project bids and budgets.
  • Project analysis: Analyzing plans and estimating documents to identify opportunities for performance improvement and value engineering.
  • Bid reviews: Reviewing bids for accuracy and scope.
  • Meetings: Coordinating pre- and post-estimate meetings with sales.
  • Supplier and contractor directory: Maintaining a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Market conditions: Keeping current on market conditions and construction industry trends.
  • Cost-reduction options: Recommending cost-reduction options.
  • Project site meetings: Attending project site meetings.
  • Bid files: Maintaining applicable bid files, correspondence, and other records in an organized and accurate manner.

Required skills and qualifications

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in a related field, such as civil engineering, construction management, or project management
  • Experience: At least five years of experience in the infrastructure construction industry, preferably in heavy civil, commercial, or industrial projects
  • Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Software proficiency: Proficiency in estimation software, such as Bluebeam, P6, or MS Projects
  • Construction knowledge: Understanding of construction processes, materials, and market trends
  • Communication: Effective communication and negotiation skills
  • Attention to detail: Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
