An excellent opportunity is available with a regulator for a Senior Manager as part of the supervision team. This role will be based in Dubai within the DIFC (Dubai International Financial Centre).

Reporting to the Associate Director in Insurance Supervision, you will supervise reinsurers and reinsurance intermediaries operating in and from the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). The Senior Manager acts as the primary interface with individual regulated entities in the DIFC and should deliver effective and efficient risk-based supervision, which is consistent with the statements of risk tolerance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and assess risks of authorised firms and ensure they comply with supervision service standards, processes and procedures
  • Act as a technical expert in insurance risk, including underwriting, reserving, solvency and risk based capital requirements pertaining to insurers, and provide internal training as needed
  • Implement strategy, business plans and policies
  • Implement policies and procedures related to supervision in the supervisory team
  • Draft relevant external communications and deliver outreach presentations designed to inform external stakeholders of the supervisory approach in relation to the insurance sector
  • Communicate with other regulators locally, regionally or internationally on matters of common interest, including sharing information on regulated entities, capacity building and informal consultations

The Senior Manager in Supervision will possess Bachelors degree in a relevant field, such as business, actuarial science, law, accounting, risk management or economics. You will possess excellent regulatory experience gained whilst working within the financial services industry, government sector, or a national or international organisation. You will have experience in supervising general insurers and/or reinsurers in internationally active insurance groups, preferably in commercial insurance and ideally experience in dealing with captive insurers, ILS, Lloyds syndicates, takaful undertakings and insurers in run-off would be considered as an advantage.
