Job Summary:
  • Responsible for all services carried out by personnel under his direct control and ensures that all equipment, tools, plants, and transport means are well maintained.
  • Plan and manage the day-to-day activities related to lumpsum work on the vessels, in the workshops and at any other areas in the Yard.
  • To ensure high level of productivity is achieved in accordance with the specifications to the quality required and all works assigned are carried out in accordance with specifications/ requirements, to a high-quality standard, at minimum cost and within scheduled time.
  • To ensure that the highest standards of safety are practiced and maintained by employees in the Yard, workshops and on-board vessels at all times.
  • To ensure an acceptable standard of Quality, Environmental and OHSAS and Security Management System for Supply Chain (SMSSC) & Information Security Management System (ISMS) are maintained in accordance with recognized working practices and the Company’s QEHS&S Manual and Policy.

Responsibilities:
  • Holds meetings with his Senior Subordinators (Supervisors & Team Leaders) to check the progress of work and to provide technical advice and job priorities.
  • To attend the Production meeting (if needed) to provide information on the up-to-date situation regarding works on hand.
  • Visit the repair projects daily to oversee the job progress and manpower utilization and take needful steps to speed up the repair activities to completing the jobs on time without sacrificing quality and profitability.
  • Regularly visit/inspect workshops, plants, and equipment to check progress of the maintenance works and general condition of the equipment and give technical advice.
  • Take spot decision when coming across any safety violations on board vessels and in the Yard or in the workshops like not wearing proper PPE, not using proper tools, using tools and equipment unsafely, etc.
  • To daily oversee the manpower distribution project wise, to ensure that it is done as per the set priorities in the best possible way and do the corrections/changes if needed.
  • To ensure that complete information on the jobs to be continued as well as to be done in the next shift are passed by the concerned persons on to the Supervisors/Team Leaders in the next shift for jobs continuation.

Qualifications:
  • Degree, or Equivalent, in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in a reputed shipyard in a managerial technical/operational position.
