Introduction Role Summary · Perform Surveillance inspection to ensure that the construction structural and outfitting is performed as per AIP and Client specific requirements.
· Verify in process inspection, final inspection, record and maintain records of structural and outfitting items as per contract and specification.
· Ensure that all construction works (structural and outfitting) are performed in strict accordance with the plans and specifications.
· Performs dimensional check on all structural works such fabrication and installation are accordance to shop details drawings and performs weld inspection.
· Perform inspection in an expedient and efficient manner to ensure that it does not affect delivery dates.
Function Accountabilities · Ability to read and interpret structural drawings.
· Ability to check and interpret approved shop drawing and work procedures.
· Ability to interpret and apply various codes of standard practice.
· Attend daily toolbox meeting and all potential quality issues to prevent occurrence of defects.
· Carry out inspection and checking for all quality related procedures.
· Assure fabrication and installation records from inspection and tests are being prepared and verified.
· Ensure required inspection reports are in accordance with all requirements.
· Identify critical quality issues in a proactive manner to facilitate improvements.
· To ensure internal quality controls area in place and being maintained properly.
· Conduct stage wise inspections like material, fit-up and visual for fabrication and installation works.
· Work closely with other personnel such as the production team to deliver high quality work together.
· Proper QA/QC documentation for all materials, including the certificates, calibration, test results, inspection request, non-compliance reports and site instructions/observation and other QA/QC documentation.
· Check welder certificate and welder performance qualifications.
· Conduct inspection to determine welding procedure and hull construction standard are as per AIP and client requirement specification.
· Attend internal/final inspection and coordination of all inspection requirements with Class, AIP and Client for structural and outfittings item.
· Monitors the proper execution by the shipyard of NDT procedures according to plans.
· Monitor and ensure all structure works are carried out according to the latest revision structural drawing and complies with the specification, class requirements and quality management.
· Liaise with the shipyard production and QA/QC department to monitor that the vessel is being built according to approved drawings and quality standards.
· Liaise with class bureau to monitor the structure is built according to class regulations.
· Reports to Structural Lead and Construction Manager any Non-Conformities without delay and assist in corrective actions.
· Other eventual tasks in line with the position of structural and outfitting inspector may reasonably be expected.
Requirements Qualifications and Experience · Diploma/Degree holder in mechanical engineering or related field
· English - fluent written and verbal skills
· Strong leadership & interpersonal skills applied to a multidisciplined project team.
· Recent relevant experience in middle east / southeast Asian shipyards is an advantage.
· Comprehensive knowledge in Piping, Structure, welding, material, corrosion and NDE.
· Valid welding Inspector certificate is compulsory (API 570, CSWIP 3.1 or 3.2).
· Familiar with the Class rules. DNV-GL
· Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
· Cooperative and positive attitude.
· Able to work independently.
· Recent relevant experience in shipyards is an advantage.
· Recent relevant experience of UK project execution is an advantage.
· High safety awareness.
