Location: WSB Arab Support Centre, Cairo, Egypt

Summary

The Intern, Communications, plays a vital role within the Communications team at the World Scout

Bureau Arab Support Centre in Cairo, reporting directly to the Manager, Communications. This

internship provides valuable learning opportunities while supporting WSB operations and

contributing to the achievement of WOSM’s objectives, with a focus on enhancing communication
strategies and outreach efforts.

The ideal candidate for this role will demonstrate proficiency in social media management, content

creation, and executing advocacy campaigns. Additionally, skills in design and video editing are
highly desirable for effectively conveying messages and engaging with the organization's audience

across various digital platforms.


Learning and development opportunities

The intern will have the opportunity to support various aspects of communications within the WSB

Arab Support Centre, including:

  • Contributing to the development and promotion of communication materials by creating
engaging social media content, including graphics and posts, to promote organizational
initiatives.
  • Assisting in the production of multimedia content by creating and editing videos to support
communication campaigns and storytelling efforts.
  • Supporting the design of visual assets for digital and print materials, aligning with brand
guidelines.
  • Providing assistance in social media management and engaging with the audience.
  • Contributing to event organization by assisting in planning and coordinating virtual and in-
person events to promote organizational initiatives.
  • Under the supervision of the Project Manager, Communications, the Intern will support
other relevant emerging tasks that may arise from time to time.

Experience, skills, and qualifications

  • Undergraduate/graduate degree in communications, digital marketing, journalism, or
similar field.
  • Experience working in multicultural and international environments.
  • Scouting experience at the national and/or international level is an asset.
  • Prior experience in writing/editing reading materials.
  • Willingness to start the internship shortly.
  • Proficiency in managing social media platforms effectively.
  • Strong content creation abilities for diverse communication channels.
  • Execution of advocacy campaigns to engage and mobilize audiences.
  • Competence in graphic design and video editing software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English is required (other languages are considered an asset).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant software applications.
  • Willingness to learn and ability to grasp new concepts quickly.
  • Presentation and training skills.
  • Problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.

Terms and conditions

  • World Scout Bureau offers a range of tangible and intangible internship benefits.
  • Role is based in Cairo, Egypt.
  • World Scout Bureau will cover the following expenses (if applicable):

a. Economy class return flight from the home country to Cairo, Egypt
b. Visa processing costs

c. Stipend to cover meals and incidentals

d. Local health insurance

e. Accommodation during the internship (shared accommodation with other interns)
  • Contractual hours of working are 40 hours per week. However, additional time may be

required for the effective performance of the role for which there will be no additional

remuneration. The successful candidate must be willing to work during the evenings and

on weekends, when necessary, for which reasonable time off in lieu may be given. A
limited time allowance for coursework on a weekly basis can be discussed.

  • The intern will be entitled to ten days of leave per annum prorated to the duration of the

contract plus public holidays in the country where the position is based.


The offer of internship appointment will be subject to:

  • Two satisfactory references
  • Verification of relevant qualifications
