Overall Responsibilities
The landfill Manager is responsible for overseeing all operations and activities at the landfill site. This includes managing daily landfilling operations, supervising 30+ staff in 2 shifts, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing budgets and costs, coordinating with local authorities and community groups, supervising the landfill cell closures, landfill gas extraction & treatment (flaring); landfill gas to energy or any other activity related, and developing policies and procedures.
Specific Duties
● Coordinate and oversee daily waste acceptance, waste placement/compaction, earthmoving, road maintenance, litter control, heavy equipment activities, leachate treatment activities; LF gas treatment activities, LF gas to Energy activities, and any other activity in the landfill site.
● Ensure landfill policies, procedures, and best practices are followed to maintain a safe, efficient, and compliant operation.
● Supervise, train, and evaluate landfill staff including technicians; equipment operators, maintenance crew, administrative staff, etc.
● Track operational costs/budgets and prepare a saving plan.
● Ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions, local, and country regulations including permitting, waste acceptance, environmental controls, etc.
● Coordinate construction activities I.e new landfill cells and closure activities on completed cells.
● Liaise with regulators, authorities, officials, and other stakeholders.
● Collect and evaluate environmental monitoring data; submit regulatory reporting.
● Follow, develop, implement, and update Standards Operations Procedures (SOPs), emergency plans, safety policies, environmental controls, and other operating procedures.
● Lead the QHSE within the site.
● Ensure a high level of integrity towards the client by handling the client meeting and submitting the documents on time.
● Provide technical support to the Proposal team on new projects.
