Job Title: Laundry Supervisor
Job Summary:
The Laundry Supervisor is responsible for managing the daily operations of the laundry department, including overseeing staff, maintaining equipment, ensuring quality control, and adhering to safety and cleanliness standards. This role involves coordinating with other departments, managing inventory, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Staff Management:
- Supervise, train, and schedule laundry staff.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Operations Management:
- Oversee the washing, drying, folding, ironing, and distribution of laundry items.
- Monitor the laundering process to ensure quality and efficiency.
- Implement and maintain laundry operating procedures.
- Equipment Maintenance:
- Ensure laundry equipment is properly maintained and serviced.
- Coordinate repairs and maintenance with appropriate personnel.
- Maintain logs of equipment usage and repairs.
- Inventory Management:
- Monitor and manage inventory of linens, detergents, and other supplies.
- Order supplies as needed and maintain stock levels.
- Conduct regular inventory checks and audits.
- Quality Control:
- Inspect laundered items to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Address and resolve any quality issues or customer complaints.
- Implement improvements to enhance quality and efficiency.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure the laundry area complies with health and safety regulations.
- Train staff on proper handling of chemicals and laundry equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized laundry facility.
- Coordination:
- Coordinate with housekeeping and other departments to meet their laundry needs.
- Ensure timely delivery and pickup of laundry items.
- Reporting:
- Maintain records of operations, inventory, and maintenance.
- Prepare and submit reports to management as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in hospitality or management is a plus.
- Proven experience in a supervisory role within a laundry or similar environment.
- Knowledge of laundry operations, equipment, and chemicals.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Basic computer skills for record-keeping and reporting.
Working Conditions:
- Physical demands include standing for long periods, lifting heavy items, and exposure to chemicals.
- The work environment is typically noisy and hot due to the nature of laundry operations.
