Job Title: Commercial Manager

Job Overview: As a Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for managing and controlling project costs throughout the lifecycle of engineering projects. Working closely with project teams and clients, you will provide accurate cost estimates, monitor expenditures, and implement cost-saving measures to ensure projects are delivered within budget constraints. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and expertise in cost management principles and practices within the engineering consultancy sector.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for the projects based on project specifications, scope of work, and client requirements.
  • Develop project budget and cost plans, taking into account all relevant factors such as materials, labor, equipment, and overhead expenses.
  • Review and analyze project proposals, contracts, and tender documents to identify cost-related risks and opportunities.
  • Monitor project expenditures and track costs against budgeted amounts, identifying variances and potential cost overruns.
  • Maintaining effective communication to ensure all information is available for the successful completion of projects; liaising with other managers to ensure efficient financial control.
  • Implement cost control measures to mitigate risks and ensure adherence to budgetary constraints throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct regular cost reviews and analysis, providing timely reports and updates to on cost performance and forecasting.
  • Collaborate with project teams to identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving initiatives without compromising project quality or performance.
  • Evaluate alternative design solutions, materials, and construction methods to optimize project costs while meeting project objectives and client expectations.
  • Review and negotiate contracts with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to secure favourable terms and pricing for project materials and services.
  • Ensure that contract terms and conditions related to cost management are effectively communicated and implemented throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify potential cost risks and uncertainties that may impact project budgets and timelines and develop risk mitigation strategies to address them.
  • Collaborate with project teams to assess and manage financial risks, proactively addressing issues to minimize project disruptions and financial losses.
  • Representing the company in a professional and diligent manner; meeting, negotiating and corresponding with clients to form strong working relationships.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS)
  • Pre / post contract experience gained from a global consultancy firm in UAE.
  • Experience on a variety of large developments such as hospitality, leisure, residential, retail etc.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
  • Knowledge of relevant software tools and platforms for cost management, such as CostX, Candy, or similar.
  • Familiarity with local regulations, codes, and standards governing construction and engineering projects in the UAE.

Pay: AED25,000.00 - AED30,000.00 per month
