Job Title: Director of Swimming

Job Summary:
The Director of Swimming will oversee the strategic development, implementation, and management of the swimming programs within the organization. This role involves directing all aspects of the swimming programs, including coaching, training, staff management, and community engagement to ensure a high standard of competitive and recreational swimming. The Director of Swimming will also be responsible for creating a safe, inclusive, and motivating environment for all swimmers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and oversee competitive and recreational swimming programs.
- Establish short-term and long-term goals for the swimming department.
- Ensure programs align with the organization’s mission and objectives.
- Develop training plans and schedules for swimmers of various skill levels.
- Oversee coaching staff and provide mentorship and development opportunities.
- Stay updated on the latest coaching techniques and ensure the implementation of best practices.
- Recruit, train, and manage coaching and support staff.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback.
- Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
- Promote swimming programs to attract new members and retain existing ones.
- Organize and oversee swimming events, competitions, and community outreach programs.
- Build relationships with local schools, clubs, and other stakeholders.
- Develop and manage the department’s budget.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate records of program participation and progress.
- Monitor the maintenance and cleanliness of swimming facilities.
- Ensure all equipment is in good working order and properly stored by staff.
- Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Physical Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a similar role, with a proven track record in managing swimming programs.
- Certified swimming coach with a recognized certification.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse groups, including athletes, parents, staff, and community members.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
- CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard certifications are required.
- Passion for swimming and promoting the sport within the community.
