Job Description: Carpenter Foreman

Position Title: Carpenter Foreman
Location: Dubai, UAE
Department: Construction
Reports To: Project Manager/Site Supervisor
Employment Type: Full-time

Position Summary:

The Carpenter Foreman is responsible for overseeing and managing a team of carpenters on construction projects. This role includes ensuring that all carpentry work meets project specifications, safety standards, and deadlines. The Carpenter Foreman will work closely with project managers, other foremen, and construction teams to coordinate tasks and maintain productivity on-site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership:
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of carpenters and laborers.
  • Train, mentor, and develop team members to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Assign tasks and monitor the progress of the team to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Project Management:
  • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to guide carpentry work.
  • Plan and organize the workflow, materials, and equipment needed for each project.
  • Collaborate with project managers to develop work schedules and timelines.
  • Quality Control:
  • Inspect work performed by carpenters to ensure it meets quality standards and project specifications.
  • Identify and rectify any issues or discrepancies in carpentry work.
  • Maintain a clean and organized job site.
  • Safety Compliance:
  • Enforce safety regulations and protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and ensure all team members are aware of safety practices.
  • Report any safety incidents or hazards to the appropriate personnel.
  • Communication:
  • Liaise with other trade foremen and subcontractors to coordinate work activities.
  • Provide regular updates to project managers on the progress of carpentry tasks.
  • Address any concerns or issues raised by team members or other stakeholders.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of materials used, time spent, and work completed.
  • Prepare and submit daily reports on project status and team performance.
  • Assist in the procurement of materials and tools as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a carpenter foreman or similar supervisory role in construction.
  • Extensive knowledge of carpentry techniques, tools, and materials.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in construction.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in carpentry is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in carpentry, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Certification or licensure in carpentry or construction management is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Physical stamina to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy objects and working on your feet for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb, kneel, crouch, and navigate construction sites.
