Job Description

Position Overview:

An occupational therapist is a professional who specializes in helping individuals of all ages improve their ability to perform daily activities and lead independent and fulfilling lives. They work with children who have physical, mental, developmental, or emotional challenges, assisting them in developing or regaining the skills necessary for meaningful engagement in their personal, social, and work-related activities.

Key Responsibilities:

1) Assessment and Evaluation:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine child’s physical, cognitive, emotional, and functional abilities.
  • Evaluate child’s environmental factors, such as their home, workplace, or school, to identify barriers and recommend modifications or adaptations.
  • Assess child’s personal goals, interests, and motivations to tailor intervention plans to their specific needs.

2)Treatment Planning and Implementation:

  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on child’s goals, abilities, and specific conditions.
  • Use evidence-based techniques and therapeutic interventions to help children improve or regain their skills and functional independence.
  • Incorporate adaptive equipment, assistive technology, and environmental modifications as appropriate to enhance child’s functioning.

3) Intervention and Therapy:

  • Conduct therapy sessions to improve child’s physical strength, coordination, and range of motion.
  • Teach children strategies and techniques to improve their cognitive, perceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Provide guidance and training in activities of daily living (ADLs) such as grooming, dressing, eating, and household tasks.
  • Support children in developing social and interpersonal skills necessary for community integration.

4) Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as doctors, nurses, psychologists, and physical therapists, to ensure coordinated and holistic care.
  • Communicate with families, caregivers, and educational or vocational staff to provide education, support, and recommendations.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and outcomes.

5) Continuous Learning and Professional Development:

  • Stay updated on emerging research, techniques, and best practices in occupational therapy.
  • Attend professional conferences, workshops, and seminars to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Engage in ongoing self-reflection and evaluation to improve personal performance and client outcomes.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in occupational therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Attested certification with certificate Equivalency as an occupational therapist.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills is mandatory (Arabic & English).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build rapport and effectively collaborate with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to assess, problem-solve, and develop creative solutions to address clients' unique needs.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to perform therapy tasks and assist clients with mobility.
  • Proficiency in using relevant assessment tools, computer software, and assistive technology.

Working Conditions:

  • This position involves regular interaction with children, families, therapists, and special education teachers.
  • Full-time position with regular working hours, though occasional evening or weekend hours may be required to accommodate client needs and center events.
