Overview:

Mazaya International is seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Muscat, Oman. The successful candidate will be responsible for both pre-contract and post-contract quantity surveying duties, ensuring the accurate preparation and management of costs and documentation for our projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Pre-Contract Stage:

  • Review tender documents and prepare technical queries.
  • Attend site inspections/surveys to evaluate actual site conditions affecting project costs.
  • Perform quantity take-offs.
  • Study and familiarize with the scope of work.
  • Consolidate material take-offs for cost estimation.
  • Coordinate with various departments to gather necessary data for estimates.
  • Prepare computerized spreadsheets and ABC costing summaries, including overhead charges as per company policies.
  • Check the accuracy of material take-offs.
  • Train and develop subordinates in quantity surveying tasks.
  • Perform value engineering to optimize project costs.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings on technical and commercial matters.
  • Conduct site inspections to evaluate conditions affecting project costs.
  • Source material suppliers and subcontractors locally and internationally during the bidding stage.
  • Calculate labor, equipment man-hours, tools, and fuel consumption requirements.
  • Prepare itemized bid breakdowns according to client requirements.
  • Analyze project costs and evaluate subcontractor/supplier proposals for price optimization.
  • Prepare construction methodologies and related technical proposals.
  • Assist marketing staff during tender preparation and project negotiation.
  • Develop construction programs for submitting tenders.

Post-Contract Stage:

  • Prepare quantity take-offs for tender preparation.
  • Send inquiries for material quotations for costing.
  • Prepare spreadsheets for costing summaries.
  • Prepare BOQs and submissions.
  • Organize and scan documents.
  • Visit and monitor sites.
  • Prepare variations and update reports.
  • Control documentation and filing.
  • Prepare monthly billing/interim bills/invoices and monthly billing reports.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably in a construction environment.
  • Strong knowledge of quantity surveying practices and principles.
  • Proficiency in computerized spreadsheet applications and ABC costing summaries.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to coordinate with various departments and gather necessary data for estimates.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
