Job Summary
The Role of the Barista is to contribute to our success by providing legendary customer service providing them with exemplary service, quality beverages and products, and maintaining a clean and comfortable store environment. The Barista is responsible for acting in accordance with, and as an ambassador for our High-Class Restaurant guiding principles, culture, and values; embracing the coffee and beverage culture and keeping it at the heart of everything we do.
Responsibilities
- Prepare non-alcohol beverages including coffee for restaurant patrons
- Interact with customers, take orders, and serve snacks and drinks
- Assess customers’ needs and preferences and make recommendations
- Mix ingredients to prepare cocktails
- Plan and present bar menu
- Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies
- Stay guest focused and nurture an excellent guest experience Comply with all food and beverage regulations
- Embracing the coffee and Beverage culture and keeping it at the heart of everything we do
- Discovering and responding to customers’ needs, providing product sampling and demonstrations to deliver the customers.
- Follow the operational policies and procedures, including those for cash handling, security and health and safety to ensure the safety of self, customers, and partners always.
- Selling coffee and tea blends and brewing equipment, highlighting the differences between items, and educating customers about brewing methods.
- Cleaning and restocking work and dining areas, emptying trash and sanitizing equipment and utensils.
- Learning about brewing methods, beverage blends.
- Recommend signage/menu/items to displays to attract customers.
- Taking inventory and replenishing items in display cases, at tables, or behind the counter.
- Working as part of a fun, high-energy team.
- Adhering to all food safety regulations and quality controls.
- Promotes the beverage list
- Welcomes customers by determining their coffee interests and needs.
- Educates customers by presenting and explaining the coffee drink menu, answering questions.
- Sells coffees and coffee grinding and brewing equipment by explaining differences in coffee beans and coffee preparation machines; demonstrating how brewing equipment operates.
- Prepares and sells coffee drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques for coffee drinks, such as, espresso, espresso lingo, caffe latte, and cappuccino.
- Generates revenues by attracting new customers; defining new and expanded services and products.
- Maintains inventories by replenishing coffee bean supply; stocking coffee brewing equipment; maintaining supplies, pastries, and cookies for coffee bar.
- Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
- Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations.
- Improves quality results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes; implementing changes; maintaining and improving the appearance of the store and coffee bar.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading coffee, retail trade, and food service publications; maintaining personal networks.
- Enhances coffee shop reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Ability to actively listen and verbally communicate with a wide range of people daily
- Keen awareness of the value of customer service
- Willingness to work a changing shift schedule, including early mornings
- Aptitude for learning in on-the job in a fast-paced environment
- Must use logic and reasoning to identify solutions and alternatives for a successful outcome. Must verify information by compiling, coding and calculating data.
- Must know or quickly learn general accounting and mathematical skills. Must correctly operate various mechanical devices such as POS system.
- Must speak and write with excellent command of the English language including proper spelling and grammar.
- Must work overtime when needed and assist the workload of others.
Education and Experience
- Previous Barista experience and facility with a wide range of coffee and food service terminology
Contract length: 24 months.
