Role and Responsibilities

  • Embrace and encourage the ethos, values, culture, and standards of excellence of the (Un) School.
  • Plan, manage, implement and evaluate health care, ensuring the school health service is responsive to change and development within the school and is appropriate for the needs of each learner.
  • Provide first aid and emergency care to everyone within the learning community as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with academic staff to ensure the seamless and continuous care of learners.
  • Work closely and in confidence with the well-being team to ensure the early detection and assessment of any child protection issues.
  • Communicate with parents in a supportive way about learners’ health conditions and any nursing care given.
  • Ensure that all medical supplies and equipment needed for first aid and emergency care are available and in working condition in the school clinic and that adequate stock levels are maintained.
  • Regularly monitor the health status, growth and development of each learner and carry out medical examinations to identify any health problems that may adversely affect their learning process.
  • Refer learners whose growth and development measurements deviate from normal to the school doctor.
  • Take measures to prevent and control the spread of infectious diseases in the school.
  • Monitor learners who are frequently absent from school due to health-related problems and bring to the attention of the principal.
  • Keep records of learners’ immunization history and offer advice to parents regarding the standard immunization schedule.
  • Administer vaccinations as per DHA regulations.
  • Implement health education programmes aimed at enhancing learners’ healthy lifestyles.
  • Promote health education to learners and staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory health and safety regulations and requirements (including the DHA, Ministry of Health, and KHDA) with respect to the provision of the school medical services and liaise with relevant bodies as required.
  • Ensure that all relevant licenses, as per DHA requirements are in place and renewed on time.
  • Maintain accurate learners’ health care records of nursing care given and ensure that they are stored securely and confidentially.
  • Document all drug administration to learners’ ensuring accurate communication with parents.
  • Ensure that accidents are reported immediately and provide written accident reports when required.
  • Develop, and maintain school health policies and procedures.
  • Report any findings that require attention to the school authorities.
  • Ensure on going professional development and maintain up to date knowledge on recent medical developments.
  • Support and uphold the agreed policies and practices of the (Un) School.

QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFILE:

  • Fluent in English and ideally Arabic.
  • Medical degree in MBBS, MD or equivalent from a recognised medical school with at least two years of post-graduate clinical experience.
  • DHA licence
  • First Aid qualified.
