Qualifications:
Education: Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in electrical installation, maintenance, or commissioning within the oil and gas industry.
Certifications: Certification in electrical systems (NEC, IEC, etc.), OSHA or equivalent safety certification is a plus.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems in the oil and gas sector (e.g., explosion-proof installations, hazardous area classification).
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
- Familiarity with project management and reporting tools.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Proficient in using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Supervision:
- Lead and manage the execution of all electrical tasks related to construction, commissioning, and maintenance activities on the oil & gas project site.
- Supervise electrical teams and subcontractors, ensuring that they perform tasks according to the project schedule and quality standards.
- Monitor the installation of electrical systems such as wiring, lighting, grounding, and power generation equipment.
Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure that all electrical work complies with safety regulations, industry standards, and local and international electrical codes (e.g., NEC, IEC).
- Implement and promote safe work practices, conducting regular safety audits and toolbox talks.
- Ensure the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to site safety guidelines.
Quality Control:
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure quality and compliance with project specifications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues during installation and commissioning phases.
- Ensure proper testing and calibration of electrical systems and components before commissioning.
Coordination & Communication:
- Liaise with project engineers, construction teams, and contractors to coordinate daily activities and resolve technical issues.
- Communicate project status, risks, and challenges to the Project Manager and provide regular updates on progress.
- Coordinate with other departments (mechanical, civil, instrumentation) to ensure smooth project execution.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Prepare and maintain documentation such as daily progress reports, work permits, and electrical system drawings.
- Maintain records of all electrical activities, including inspection and testing reports.
- Assist in the preparation of as-built drawings and project closeout documentation.
Resource Management:
- Manage the allocation of electrical personnel, tools, and equipment on site.
- Ensure availability of required materials, tools, and equipment for timely completion of electrical works.
- Evaluate and recommend necessary electrical resources to meet project demands.
Physical & Working Conditions:
- Willingness to work in remote locations, often in challenging environmental conditions (desert, offshore, etc.).
- Ability to work extended hours or shifts during critical project phases.
