Job Description
Assist in the propagation of plants through various methods, including seeds, cuttings, and divisions. We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Nursery Attendant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about plants and have the skills necessary to care for a diverse range of species. This position involves hands-on work in the nursery, and the successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining plant health and supporting our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Water, fertilize, prune, and maintain healthy plants and seedlings according to specific care guidelines.
- Assist in the propagation of plants through various methods, including seeds, cuttings, and divisions.
- Monitor plants for signs of pests or diseases and implement appropriate treatments.
- Engage with customers, providing knowledgeable assistance and recommendations regarding plant care and products.
- Assist with receiving, labeling, and organizing plants and supplies; maintain accurate inventory records.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the nursery, including cleaning tools, pots, and greenhouse areas.
- Participate in community workshops and events to promote gardening and educate the public about plant care.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in horticulture, botany, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience working in a nursery, garden center, or similar environment is highly desirable.
- Basic understanding of plant care, horticultural practices, and pest management strategies.
- Strong communication skills, customer service orientation, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
- Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and varied hours as needed.
