Dean of the College of Business

The purpose of this position is to provide strategic and functional leadership to support college operations and to develop and manage faculty and staff and ensure that the college continues to grow in reputation, international accreditation and in the development of innovative programs. The role of the Dean of the College of Business requires a leader who oversees the academic and administrative functions of the college, engages with external stakeholders, and drives strategic initiatives to maintain and enhance the college's reputation and effectiveness.

  • Develop and implement the strategic vision and long-term goals of the College.

Academic Management

Curriculum Oversight
  • Oversee the development and continuous improvement of academic programs, ensuring they meet industry standards and accreditation requirements (CAA, AACSB, EQUIS, WASC).
  • Coordinate the development, growth and sustainability, both academically and financially, of academic programs within the college.
  • Oversee the development of course curriculum and assessment tools to ensure compliance with ADU policies and accreditation at the national and international levels.
  • Ensure the cost-effective delivery of programs and courses.
Faculty Management
  • Recruit, retain, and support faculty members by fostering a productive and collaborative academic environment.
Research
  • Encourage and support faculty research, and research development.
Administrative Responsibilities
Operational Oversight
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the College, including budgeting, resource allocation, and facilities management.
Staff Supervision
  • Oversee administrative staff, ensuring effective support for academic and operational functions.
  • Lead in the recruitment and selection of faculty and staff
  • Ensure the effective management and development of faculty and staff.
  • Oversee all personnel matters involving academic and non-academic employees including recruitment, appointment, evaluation, promotion and termination and dismissal.

Student Engagement and Student Experience
  • Enhance the overall student experience by addressing academic, professional, and personal development needs.
Alumni Relations
  • Maintain relationships with alumni, fostering a supportive network and engaging them in College activities.
External Relations
Industry Partnership
  • Build and maintain relationships with business leaders, companies, and other external stakeholders to enhance opportunities for students and faculty.
  • Establish strong links with external agencies, government and business in the fields related to the College.
Accreditation and Quality Assurance
Accreditation
  • Ensure the school meets the standards of accrediting bodies and continuously improves the quality of programs.
  • Document curriculum changes associated with all CAA, ADEC, AACSB and WASC approved curricula within the college.
  • Lead the college in securing accreditation from relevant accreditation bodies and ensure maintenance of such accreditations.
  • Write reports for the CAA and other relevant accreditation bodies.
Quality Assurance
  • Implement measures to assess and enhance the quality of teaching learning and assessment.
SECTION III: KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Minimum educational qualifications required for the role:
  • Research Doctorate from an Internationally accredited HE institution in a Business-related discipline (preferably top 200 with AACSB or EQUIS accreditation).
Minimum Years of Experience Required
  • 4 years of experience as Department Chair or as an Associate Dean in an internationally accredited school of business.
Nature of Relevant Experience Required
  • Department Chair or as an Associate Dean in an internationally accredited school of business
  • Experience with faculty and staff management and evaluation and development.
  • Understanding of accreditation standards for business schools, processes and experience with the UAE CAA standards and requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of sales success in the logistics sector, with established relationships in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

Key Responsibilities:

    Qualification (minimum)

    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering
    Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) & Microsoft Azure Solution Architect
    Cisco Certified Network Associate – (CCNA) & VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
    ITIL Certification & Red Hat- RHCSA.

    Certified Digital Transformation Professional (CDTP) ITIL, Cloud Certified Engineer (AWS, Azure)

    10+ years of experience in a similar role

    Job Description & Responsibilities

    Analyse business needs and requirements to plan & build server infrastructure server,
    Focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining the underlying cloud infrastructure, such as virtual machines, storage, and networking components.
    ,Ensuring overall system and server uptime, availability, reliability, and security., Set up User accounts and workstations and Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements.,
    Follows IT operations processes – change management, patch management, incident and problem management, capacity management.,
    Perform server administration tasks, including user/group administration, security permissions, group policies, print services, research event log warnings and errors, and resource monitoring, ensuring system architecture components work together seamlessly.,
    Monitor datacentre health using preexisting management tools and respond to hardware issues as they arise; help build, test, and maintain new servers as needed.,
    Provide analysis of the hybrid cloud environment and perform the necessary actions to avoid deficiencies and service interruptions., Works on integrating cloud-based systems with existing on-premises infrastructure and ensuring seamless data transfer between the two environments., Perform routine/scheduled audits of the systems, including all backups, Provide input to implementation plans and standard operating procedures as they relate to Server administration., Trace system requirements to design components and perform gap analysis, Using technologies and tools available to automate operational processes which are prone to human errors., Assist with the design and implementation of infrastructure solutions and manage time and expectations and work as part of a project teak., Verify stability, portability, and/or scalability of system architecture., Ensure all systems security operations and maintenance activities are properly documented and updated as necessary., Properly document all server and system implementation, operations, and maintenance activities and update as necessary., Develop, implement, and oversee policies and procedures to ensure consistent platform systems provisioning, uptime, and regulatory compliance., Provide input to the Risk Management Framework process activities and related documentation (e.g., system life-cycle support plans, concept of operations, operational procedures, and maintenance training materials).,Hardware firmware upgrade for physical servers like HP, Dell, and IBM., Implement security measures to resolve vulnerabilities, mitigate risks, and recommend security changes to system or system components as needed., Built and manage Virtual Server infrastructure including Performance monitoring, Error logging and Backup management, Responsible for preventive maintenance on Windows operating systems as well as repair to system/environmental problems, Manage WAF web application firewall and web proxy servers., Accomplishes organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

    Determining how a system should work securely (including its resilience and dependability capabilities) and how changes in conditions, operations, or the environment will affect the security posture, Strong problem-solving skills and ability to apply these skills to identify and resolve anomalies in system functionality and performance., Hypervisor technologies, such as VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, Virtual switch configuration., Skills in API usage, command line interface, and SDKs for writing applications, Cloud computing skills: Familiarity with cloud applications like Office365, Azure/AWS/Oracle, Regularly exercises discretion and good judgment in the performance of other essential job functions., Demonstrated experience with scripting (PowerShell and VB).,Strong knowledge on VMware cluster with HA and HCI Infrastructure., Conducting vulnerability scans and recognizing vulnerabilities in systems., Evaluating the adequacy of server infrastructure designs, Conducting security audits or reviews of technical systems.

    Key area of experience

    Experience in System/Server Administration, Backup Data/Recovery, Virtual Server infrastructure and storage system. Architecture and design experience with datacenters, blade servers, power optimized servers and enterprise servers.
