Contract Drafting & Negotiation:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.

Desired Profile:

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or Law. A Master’s degree in a relevant field is a plus.
  • Certifications such as Certified Contract Manager (CCM) or a similar qualification are advantageous.

Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in contract management within the construction or electrical contracting industry, preferably in the Middle East.
  • Proven track record in managing complex contracts for large-scale electrical projects (e.g., substations, power plants, or industrial installations).

Technical Knowledge:

Overview

Vertex Pharmaceuticals is seeking an experienced Legal and Compliance professional to join its Office of Business Integrity & Ethics (OBIE). OBIE is responsible for the development, implementation, oversight, and continuous improvement of Vertex’s Compliance program. This includes defining standards via policies and procedures, creating and implementing training and communications, conducting auditing and monitoring and other assurance activities, facilitating internal reporting, discretely and professionally conducting Compliance-related investigations, and keeping the CEO, the Executive Committee, and the Board of Directors informed on Compliance matters. OBIE serves as the go-to experts for Vertex employees and external stakeholders on issues relating to Vertex’s Compliance program and Code of Conduct globally.
OBIE partners closely with its colleagues in Legal across our global organization. This role will be primarily responsible for Compliance but will also provide Legal and Privacy support with respect Vertex’s operations and activities in the Middle East region.
Job Description
The Middle East Business Partner will serve as the primary Legal and Compliance professional supporting Vertex business activities in the Middle East out of Vertex’s offices in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). The Middle East Business Partner will be the primary point of contact for strategic and tactical Compliance and Legal guidance for all countries across the region with a focus on Compliance. The person will serve on the country leadership team for KSA and support teams across Vertex portfolio and expansion markets in the Middle East, also collaborating on International and Global Legal & OBIE projects and initiatives.
The Middle East Business Partner will report to the Head of OBIE International, with dotted lines reporting to the regional OBIE Business Partner and the Legal Business Partner for KSA and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and will work closely with other Compliance and Legal Business Partners to ensure consistent support across International. The role also supports the Global OBIE team in further enhancing and implementing our Global Compliance Program and will provide daily support to our business colleagues to ensure effective implementation and understanding.
The Middle East Business Partner must have deep knowledge of pharmaceutical industry regulations, applicable local codes, and anti-bribery/anti-corruption laws across KSA and GCC countries and extensive experience working for biotechnology/pharmaceutical companies on these issues. Additionally, the Middle East Business Partner will work collaboratively and strategically with colleagues in OBIE, Legal, and the business to drive a culture of ethics and integrity and balanced risk taking across Vertex’s global organization.

Structural Engineer

  • Obtain and assemble data to complete architectural designs, visiting job sites to compile measurements as necessary.
  • Draw rough and detailed scale plans for foundations, buildings and structures, based on preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets and other data.
  • Lay out and plan interior room arrangements for commercial buildings, using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment and software.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and inspect the work of draftspersons, technicians on construction projects.
  • Represent architectural engineer/construction manager on site and ensuring builder compliance with design specifications and advising on design corrections under architectural engineer’s supervision.
  • Check dimensions of materials to be used and assign numbers to list of materials.
  • Determine procedures and instructions to be followed according to design specifications and quantity of required materials.
  • Analyze technical implications of architectural engineer’s design concept, calculating weights, volumes and stress factors
  • Create freehand drawings and lettering to accompany drawings.
  • Prepare colored drawings of landscape and interior designs for presentation to client.
  • Reproduce drawings on copy machines or trace copies of plans and drawings, using transparent paper or cloth, ink, pencil and standard drafting instruments.
  • Prepare cost estimates, contracts, bidding documents and technical reports for specific projects under an architectural engineer’s supervision.
  • Calculate heat loss and gain of buildings and structures to determine required equipment specifications following standard procedures.
  • Build landscape, architectural and display models.
  • Analyze building codes, by-laws, space and site requirements and other technical documents and reports to determine their effect on an architectural design.
  • Operate computer-aided drafting equipment or conventional drafting station to produce designs, working drawings, charts, forms and records.
  • Coordinate structural, electrical and mechanical designs and determine a method of presentation in order to graphically represent building plans.
  • Prepare and update shop drawings as per design drawing, RFIs and design changes.
